Which languages and music styles can your wedding song be made in?
Your song can be sung in any of the atelier's 4 languages: English, Romanian, Spanish or Italian. You pick one of 7 styles: Classic waltz, Modern pop ballad, Acoustic folk, Latin romantic, Soul / R&B, Party anthem or Surprise switch. The site itself runs in 24 languages, but songs are sung only in those 4.
Atelierul Cantavals
Below, each language and each style comes with one of the atelier's example songs you can play.
Which languages can the song be sung in?
English, Romanian, Spanish and Italian. One example for each:
- English: Our Second Chance Symphony, a pop ballad.
- Romanian: Valsul Bibliotecii, a classic waltz.
- Spanish: Nuestro Chiringuito, Latin romantic.
- Italian: Sei Casa Mia, a pop ballad.
Can we order in English and have the song sung in Romanian, Spanish or Italian?
Yes. In the chat, your song is sung by default in the language you write to Trilo in. To get a different one, just tell Trilo, for example: "We're chatting in English, but we'd like the song in Romanian." It goes into your summary before anything is made. You can also ask for two languages, for example Romanian and English: the lyrics weave both together, and the first one you name is the main language.
This is useful if you live abroad and want your parents and grandparents to understand every word, or if the wedding is in Italy or Spain and you want the song in the local language.
Why does the site come in more languages than the songs?
Translating a website and writing lyrics in a language are different jobs. The interface, meaning the buttons, the pages and the chat, is available in 24 languages. Lyrics need their own rules in every language: rhyme, rhythm, and where the stresses land on the melody. The atelier has those rules for 4 languages.
If you write to Trilo in, say, German or Dutch, Trilo replies in your language and asks which of the sung languages you want.
Which music styles can you choose?
All 7, each with a short description and a song to play:
- Classic waltz: elegant, timeless, 3/4. Play The Best Wrong Version.
- Modern pop ballad: emotional, builds to soaring. Play Our Second Chance Symphony.
- Acoustic folk: intimate, organic, fireside. Play Nineteen Falling Stars.
- Latin romantic: warm, danceable, golden. Play Nuestro Chiringuito.
- Soul / R&B: smooth, candlelit, silky. Play La Discusión Que Nos Unió.
- Party anthem: joyful, high-energy celebration. Play Ultima Navetă.
- Surprise switch: starts tender, erupts into a party. Play Valsul de la Două Noaptea.
In the chat, Trilo shows the whole list, numbered, and marks one style as its suggestion based on your story. The choice is yours. If you want a different style after payment, use one of your 2 included rewrites from the song page.
Which style suits a first dance?
Start from how you want to dance.
- A slow dance with proper steps? Classic waltz, in 3/4 time.
- A slow dance without learned steps? Modern pop ballad or Soul / R&B. You sway, and the song builds toward the end.
- Something quiet and close? Acoustic folk.
- You already dance bachata or salsa together? Latin romantic.
- You want your guests to join you halfway through? Surprise switch.
Party anthem tends to work better for the reception entrance than for the first dance.
Which style works for a song for your parents?
In the atelier this moment is called "Thank-you to the parents". The whole room listens, grandparents included, so a style that keeps the words up front works well: Classic waltz, Acoustic folk or Modern pop ballad. The song can also be for your godparents (the nași of a Romanian wedding): when asked "Who is the song for?", choose "For our godparents".
What is a surprise switch?
It starts as a slow, romantic waltz. Partway through, the beat changes suddenly and the song turns into a party, with drums and brass. On the dance floor that means the two of you dance alone first, then the floor fills up.
The atelier's example is Valsul de la Două Noaptea, a Romanian song. Its page shows the lyrics, so you can follow where the switch lands.
